Politics at play?

Dear Editor,

After reading the article regarding the proposed tax increase for the Hampton Inn in Conewango Township, one cannot help but wonder if perhaps the local politicians are beginning to mirror our national politicians in behavior. The City of Warren has for some time now been striving to convince everyone that a grand hotel is necessary downtown to ensure there is room to hold all the many tourists that flood our town each year. Driving past the Hampton Inn, it is obvious that they have a substantial number of guests on any given night. Perhaps if they were forced to shut down because of excessive taxes, the City could justify the building of a new hotel to meet the needs. Of course, it would once again leave our community with another large and empty building — much like our various schools.
