Don’t consolidate bands

Dear Editor,

So basically from what I’ve heard… you are possibly cutting some of our marching band program people (more than half of our band) to join us with some other band?! Seriously?! Some kids have no way of transportation and you are basically not saving the $20,000 you wanted to save because the district won’t have any bands because kids don’t have a way of transportation. You are probably just going to use the money for stupid purposes like renovating schools that are perfectly fine. You see our school with bathroom doors that don’t lock and broken soap dispensers and toilets and then you see Warren with a brand new renovation that they barely even needed. This is seriously a problem. If you do decide to do this then the district is probably going to lose a lot of kids in marching band (color guard included) and it’s all for some stupid $20,000 dollars that you probably will put to something stupid. As if it’s not bad enough, you’re cutting music and arts programs for that new schedule next year. Now this?! I don’t understand it. Oh, and also did it ever occur to you that band directors have already started planning for the next season?! This is the busiest month of the year for most band directors and you just had to come plop this new idea on them. It’s stressful enough for our band directors and staff and kids to get ready for the new season and now this whole new idea comes in. SERIOUSLY?! Why do you think this is a good idea? Please tell me!
