Barnyard canceled

It is with great regret that the Barnyard Classic Committee must cancel this year’s 3 on 3 tournament.

While this was a very difficult decision, it was necessitated by Pennsylvania’s new law requiring extensive background checks and clearances for every volunteer at our event. The timing of this law doesn’t allow us to get these clearances on the 36 volunteer referees and 30 staff members needed to put on the Barnyard Classic.

It has always been our goal to only put on the very best possible 3 on 3 tournament. We feel that quickly patching together a staff based solely on the criteria of already having this paperwork done would only undermine that goal.

As much as this decision hurts us, we refuse to host a subpar event. We don’t want to let down the great folks that have been coming to the Barnyard Classic for the past eight years. Your positive and enthusiastic comments have been a true motivator for us and putting on an event that is below our standards is no way to treat you.

We hope that we can overcome this roadblock and, in the future, go back to showing you why we say, “Basketball is better in the Barnyard.”

In the meantime, thank you for your support and thank you being a part of a great Eisenhower High School annual event.

“Barnyard Classic – Growing a Better Game.”
