Necolai Knut Wendelboe IV, affectionately known as Nick, passed away at home on July 6, 2026, surrounded by his loving family and dear friends. He was 73.
Born January 14, 1953, in Warren, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Nick Wendelboe III and Jane L. (Hinchliffe) Wendelboe. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Lynn (Rife) Wendelboe.
Nick is survived by his wife, Nita (Freeman) Wendelboe. They were married on July 20, 1975, and shared more than 50 years together. He is also survived by his son, Necolai Knut Wendelboe V; his daughter, Katherine L. (McIntosh) Wendelboe; and many extended family members and friends.
A 1971 graduate of Warren Area High School, Nick attended Grove City College before entering the family business, Wendelboe’s Store. After relocating to Arizona in 1986, he founded NKW, Inc. in 1991 and built it into a respected commercial construction company. In 2018, he proudly sold the business to his employees before retiring.
Nick will be remembered for his integrity, generosity, and unwavering belief in doing the right thing. His legacy lives on through his family, the business he built, and the many lives he touched.
