Joyce Kasaback, 96, of Hillside Ave. in Ludlow, passed away Sunday (June 14) at her residence with her son Todd and granddaughter Mindy at her side. She was born on Feb. 4, 1930 in Kane, the daughter of the late William and Blanche (Swanson) Nystrom. She married Joseph Kasaback on March 14, 1952 in Clarendon. He preceded her in death in 2013.

Joyce was retired from Warren State Hospital, and she had also worked at Blair New Process. She was a proud lifelong member of the Wildcat Park Association and Moriah Lutheran Church. She was especially blessed to spend the last 13 years of her life in the loving care of her son, who devoted himself to ensuring her comfort, dignity and happiness. Their relationship grew into an extraordinary bond built on unconditional love, countless shared memories, and unwavering companionship. Caring for her was one of the greatest honors of his life, and the time they shared together was a gift he will cherish forever.

She is survived by three sons, Jeffrey Kasaback of Kane, Greg (Linda) Kasaback of Ludlow and Todd Kasaback of Ludlow; one daughter, Sherry (Karl) Keierleber of Apache Junction, AZ; Nine grandchildren-Mindy {Frank} Lincoln, Jeremy (Jessica) Kasaback, Cindy Bearfield, Joseph(Lindsey) Keierleber, Jessie(Sarah) Keierleber, Natalie (Chaz) Simmons and Joe Horner; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one sister, Geraldine “Pudge” Pierotti of Kane and one brother, Gerald (Judy) Nystrom of Kane; a former daughter-in-law and caregiver, Perrice “Peppi” Peterson of Warren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one sister Betty Feronti and two brothers, Teddy and Charles Nystrom.

Friends will be received at the Cummings Funeral Home on Wednesday from noon until 2:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 with the Rev. David Pflieger officiating. Interment will be in Gibbs Hill cemetery.

A luncheon will follow at the Ludlow Fire Hall.
