David M. Himes, 65, of Frewsburg, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born on March 27, 1961, in Jamestown, a son of the late Herman J. and Mary L. Wiltsie Himes.
David was a 1979 graduate of Frewsburg Central School.
For many years, he served the local area as a self-employed contractor known for his jack-of-all trades skills. David was involved with the Fentonville Cemetery, at one time holding an officer’s position, serving on the board and as a director, and was currently the sexton.
David was a member of the Carroll Masonic Lodge #1147.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, photography, building model cars, and was an avid NASCAR fan. He enjoyed sports and in earlier years, coached his daughter’s softball team and all three of his children’s basketball teams. Armed with a hammer and a tape measure, David could tackle almost any repair that came his way.
David is survived by his wife, Yvonne M. Littlefield Himes; three children: Samantha M. (Michael) Ulrich, Shawn M. (Krista) Himes, Shelby M. (Andrew) Telford; one granddaughter Liberty Ulrich; two grandpups Remi and Maple; three siblings: Steven Himes, Karen (Scott) Thompson, Mark (Lisa) Himes; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Koinonia Christian Fellowship, Warren Jamestown Blvd, Jamestown, NY. Pastor Ron Lemon and David’s brother-in-law, Pastor James Johnson, will officiate.
Burial will be in Fentonville Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Friday at Peterson Funeral Home, Frewsburg. A Masonic Lodge Funeral Service will be held at 7 pm on Friday in the funeral home.
