Sherie Lynn Edenborn

She was a lifelong lover of learning, graduating valedictorian from Sheffield Area High School and going on to obtain a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Biology from Clarion University and a PhD in microbiology from West Virginia University. She taught as a professor of microbiology at Chatham University and West Virginia Wesleyan College. Sherie was passionate about teaching and took great pride in her role as an educator.

She enjoyed many different creative and intellectual pursuits, including gardening, theater, yoga, hiking, and woodworking. She appreciated art in its many forms and liked to experiment with different mediums. Sherie loved animals and being out in nature. She was actively involved in organic farming and beekeeping efforts at Chatham and participated in a number of Rachel Carson trail challenges.

She is survived by her husband, Hank Edenborn; her daughter, Abigail Edenborn; her brother, Jeffrey Gustafson; her nephew, Jayden Gustafson; her aunt, Betty Mailhot; her cousins, Barbara Gustafson-Reef and Bonnie Irvin; and her close friends Dana Hamby, Suzan Mardis, Lisa Miceli, Lynn Chiado, and Janet Stewart.

The family is very grateful to Dana Hamby for her lifelong friendship with Sherie and her continuous support.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 S. Mill St., New Castle PA.
