Charles E. Smith Jr.
Charles Edward Smith Jr., 76, of Pittsfield, Pennsylvania, passed away early Saturday morning, April 25, 2026, in Titusville, Pennsylvania.
Born July 22, 1949, in Warren, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Charles Edward Smith Sr. and Opal Maxine (Ehrhart) Smith.
Charlie retired from Whirleys Industries in Warren. Known to many as “Tuna,” he was a private man who found peace in the outdoors and on his farm. He spent much of his time caring for animals, raising pigs, and working the land. He also enjoyed hunting and, for a time, operated a small butcher shop. In his later years, his small dog, Betsy, was a beloved companion who brought him comfort and joy until her passing last year.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his son, Brian Kelly Smith, and his wives, Dorothy Smith and Rose Smith.
He is survived by his mother, Opal Maxine Smith; three sisters, Shirley Fitzgerald (Larry), Dianna Suppa, and Charlene Pace; two children, Michael R. Smith and Kimberly A. Ivery (Demond); and three stepdaughters, Kim Woods, Wendy Lidey-Jones, and Christy Lidey-Burnett. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Charlie played a special role in helping raise his grandson, Max Smith, and his granddaughter, Lexi Brink. During a time when they needed stability, he provided care, consistency, and support, remaining a steady presence in their lives and maintaining a close relationship with them over the years.
A gathering for family and friends will be held on the farm in August. Further details will be announced.
