Harry S. (Butch) Hilyer
Harry S. (Butch) Hilyer,72, of Sheffield, Pa passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on April 14, 2026, from complications of a stroke that he suffered on April 7th.
He was born in Kane, PA, on Sept. 25, 1953, the son of the late Harry Hilyer and Florence (Eck) Hilyer. He graduated from Warren High School. Butch retired from Highland Forest Resources due to health problems. He was previously employed for many years as an equipment operator for Utility Constructors, Inc. on many pipeline jobs. He loved working and mowing his lawn. He enjoyed his time spent at the casino with his sister Shelia and friend Franny Brush, watching all the old western tv shows and playing casino games on his i-pad. Butch would do anything for his many, many friends. He was a friend to all he met.
Left behind to cherish Butch’s memory are his two children: Harry S. Hilyer III and wife Tara and Julie Hilyer, both of Kane, PA and a daughter-in-law Diane Hilyer of James City, Pa, grandchildren, Aubria, Brian, Chase and Zach Hilyer, all of Kane, PA, Alyassa and Marie Hillyer of James City, PA and John Hilyer of Union City, Pa and 7 great grandchildren. One great granddaughter was the apple of his eye, and he always called her June Bug, two sisters, Kay O’Rourke and husband Stan of Blue Jay, Pa and Terri Moore and husband Tom of Sheffield. He is also survived by aunts, uncles and many cousins. He will also be missed by his wonderful friends John Biehl, Franny Brush and Walt and Linda Elmquist.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son John Hilyer who passed away on September 15, 2025, and his sister and her husband Shelia and Marc Salerno.
Butch’s family will welcome family and friends on Sunday, April 19, 2026, from 1 pm to 3 pm at the Borden Funeral Home, 203 West Main Street in Sheffield, Pa. Funeral services will follow at 3 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Ruth Ann Varrato presiding. Burial will take place on Monday morning at North Forest Cemetery in Marienville, PA. A luncheon will follow the service on Sunday at the Sheffield United Methodist Church, 11 West Main Street, Sheffield, PA hosted by the ladies of the community churches.
