Susan I. Foote
Susan Irene Foote, age 84, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026.
Susan was born on Nov.10, 1941, in Russell, Pennsylvania, to Jack and Helen Stewart. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her ten brothers and one sister. She grew up in a loving family and carried that same spirit of warmth and devotion throughout her life.
She was a devoted wife to her husband, Dean Foote, and a loving sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Susan’s greatest joy in life was her family. She especially loved family gatherings, where her home was always filled with laughter, good food, and time spent together.
Susan (Ms. Sue) worked as a preschool teacher at First Presbyterian, where her patience, kindness, and playful spirit touched the lives of many young children and their families. She was also a member of Lakewood Baptist Church.
Those who knew Susan will remember her as a wonderful cook who loved preparing meals for family and friends. She also had a playful side and was known as a bit of a prankster, bringing laughter and joy to those around her.
In addition to her husband, Dean, she is survived by her children: Jim Foote (Malinda); Debbie Fonzo (Paul); Sheldon Foote (Kelley); and Karen Burgess (Steve).
She is also survived by her grandchildren: Lindsey Valentine (Johnny); Kayla Holcombe (Jordan); Jameson Foote (Sadie); Blake Foote; Sadie Foote; Wyatt Burgess (Millie); and Tyler Burgess. She was also blessed with 12 great-grandchildren, with more on the way. She is also survived by her dear sister, Lorraine Walker (Tom), with whom she shared a special lifelong bond. Susan also shared a special bond with her sister-in-law, Connie Stewart; and with her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rick and Carolyn Foote. Susan is also survived by numerous special nieces and nephews. Susan also thought the world of her neighbors, the Allens.
The family is grateful to Susan’s wonderful caregiver, Amy Hanson.
Susan’s love, warmth, and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A private service for the family will be held at Memorial Park Riverside.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Lakewood Baptist Church in her memory.
