Ronald E. “Ronnie” Caldwell, 78 of Warren, PA, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at UPMC Hamot surrounded by his loving family.
Ronnie was born on May 15, 1947 in Warren, PA to the late John and Margaret Caldwell. He graduated from Warren Area High School in 1965. He then enlisted in the United States Army in which he served his country in the Vietnam War.
Ronnie was employed as a Warren city fireman for 39 years. He began as a hose man in 1970, was promoted to Lieutenant in 1994, and finally retired after 13 years as Captain of the 1st Platoon in June of 2009. He also owned and operated Sentry Services.
Ronnie met and married his beloved wife, Laurie on January 8, 1972 at St. Paul Lutheran Church
in Warren.
Ronnie was an avid golfer and member of the Jackson Valley Golf Club. Golf was his true passion. In his younger years, he also enjoyed bowling and playing softball in various leagues. In addition, he was a member of Hessel Valley Lutheran Church, Fraternal Order of the Eagles Post #313, and the American Legion Post #135.
He enjoyed spending time with his family most of all. He took the most pride in being the best husband, father, and “papa.” He was so proud to be a grandfather and spent each day with his granddaughters. He was truly a selfless man and always there for anyone who needed him. He will be deeply missed by his family.
Ronnie is survived by his wife of 54 years, Laurie; his children, Shawn E. (Jennifer) Caldwell, and Jenah (Gregory) Clopp; his grandchildren, Kaine, Kaidence and Kyrie; and his siblings Susan “Susie,” William “Billy,” and Mickey (Tracey) Caldwell.
In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by his brother, Denny Caldwell and sister, Linda Constable.
Friends will be received at Peterson-Blick Funeral Home Inc., at 1003 Pennsylvania Ave. 16365 on Sunday, March 22, 2026 from 3p.m.-6p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 23rd at Hessel Valley Lutheran Church at 10a.m. with Pastor Nancy Schwanke officiating.
Burial will be held in Oakland Cemetery to follow.
