Rebecca L. Waid

She was born on Oct. 25, 1952 in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Herbert and Violet Swanson Elmore.

She was a 1970 graduate of Frewsburg Central School and earned an associates degree from Jamestown Community College in 1972.

While in high school, she entered the working world as a part time cashier at the former Quality Markets, Frewsburg, transferring to their Warehouse and Distribution Center until early 1976 when she left to raise a family. Later, she worked for the Chief Cornplanter Council, Boy Scouts of America.

She married her high school sweetheart, Paul Waid on Aug. 14, 1971 in the Zion Lutheran Church.

Becky was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who put the needs of her family before herself. She enjoyed cooking, baking, decorating birthday cakes, scrapbooking, and making quilts for her children. She enjoyed the companionship of her adopted friends, Molly and Hannah Lee.

Becky is survived by her children: Michael (Jennifer) Waid of Canal Winchester, OH, Jason (Chelsea) Waid of Gahanna, OH, Pamela (Daniel) Hanson of Gouldtown, PA; grandchildren: Avery, Alexis, Kelsea, Nathan, Alison, Abigail; and a sister Linda (Chris) VanDyke of Layton, UT.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Paul D. Waid, who passed away on March 12, 2024.

A funeral service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, March 21, 2026 in the Peterson Funeral Home, Frewsburg.

Friends will be received from 11 am – 1 pm on Saturday in the funeral home.
