Daniel “Dan” F. Edmiston, 78, of Tidioute, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2026, in Tidioute. He was born on Sept. 3, 1947, to the late Gertrude and Frederick Edmiston in Erie, PA.
Dan married his beloved wife, Jacqueline, on Jan. 16, 1968.
Dan graduated from Tidioute High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps to honorably serve his country. Following his discharge, he had a passion for the VFW and put a lot of time into it; he was a past Post Commander at his post VFW Post #8803 where he was a life member. He was also past Commander at the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 75; as well as a past Commander at District 19. Dan belonged to the Stillwater Lodge #547, Coudersport Consistory, Watson Grange #1068, Moose Lodge #109, Fraternal Order of the Eagles #313, Youngsville Legion Post 658, Sheffield Rod & Gun Club, Kelletville Sportsman’s Club, Marine Corps League, and the Tidioute Bucktails.
When not engaged in activities with the many organizations and clubs he belonged to, Dan liked to go hunting and play Solitaire. He liked to read books by the author Louis Lamour. He loved his wife and family. He would tell them now, that this “just don’t mean nothing”.
Dan is survived by his wife, Jacqueline; his children, Danielle Edmiston and Michael (Mark) Edmiston; his grandchildren, Laura (Jake) McCarthy, Matthew (Shelly) Medina; Jennifer (Alex) Spelman, and Kimberly (William) Stutzman; his great-grandchildren, Zoey and Logan Spelman, and Thea, Eloise, and Patrick Stutzman; sister, Linda (Boyd) Bush; sister-in-law Deidra Himes and brother-in-law, Kevin (Kathleen) Wiles; and many dear nieces and nephews.
Dan was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Peter Wiles, and sister-in-law, Brenda Atkin.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc. 1003 Penna Ave E, Warren, PA, 16365. A celebration of life will be announced when arrangements are finalized.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Dan’s name may be made to the Tidioute VFW Post 8803, 93 Main St, Tidioute, PA, 16351.
