Meredythe Luvison
Meredythe “Nan” (Warner) Luvison, 94, of Youngsville, PA, devoted wife and mother of six, passed away Jan. 16, 2026, during a brief rehabilitation period at The Rouse Home following a recent hospitalization.
Born July 17, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Ivan and Lovinia (Stickles) Warner. She was a graduate of Youngsville High School in 1949. Nan converted to Catholicism early in life and was a devoted parishioner of Saint Luke’s Catholic Church for many years.
On Sept. 30, 1950, she married the love of her life, Claude “Dink” Luvison, who died Dec. 24, 2023. The couple was married for 73 years and raised six children in the home they built together in Youngsville. From there, they lived very full lives until their respective passing. This included countless road trips, well into their 80s, to places near and far and back and forth across the country more than once.
Together they operated the family’s masonry and construction business, Roger Luvison & Son, with Nan handling the company’s bookkeeping during many of its formative years. The company was started by Dink’s father, and in more recent years was owned and operated by their two eldest sons. Early in her adult life, Nan started work at the New Process (Blair Company) and was proud to be a speedy master of the manual typewriter.
Personally, Nan enjoyed time with close friends, was a lifelong reader, loved double solitaire and played in four different bowling leagues. The Pittsburgh Pirates, Cleveland Browns and Penn State football were among her favorite pastimes, and she seldom missed a high school game when her children or grandchildren were involved. Nan was also a talented scratch cook, and a part of her legacy is the annual ritual of collecting fiddlehead ferns, a family delicacy. It was a skill she learned from her father, Ike, accompanying him each spring for the harvest. She passed this on as a hobby to her son, Matt, who continues to share it with his grandchildren.
But by far, Nan’s greatest passion and joy was always her children, their spouses and her grandchildren, who she loved and doted upon just as a grandmother should. This included many outings known affectionately as “Camp Talk-A-Lot,” a special Nanny tradition that her grandchildren will cherish for years to come.
To her grown children, Nan was adored and admired over a lifetime for her strength, unselfish generosity and an unwavering mother’s touch, not to mention her quick wit and sharp tongue when appropriate. Or sometimes not.
Survivors include two daughters, Claudia (the late Robert) Thelin of Warren and Natalie (Craig) Ostergaard of Pioneer, CA; two sons, Matthew (Penny) Luvison of Youngsville and Kelly (Karen) Luvison of Fayetteville, PA; and 10 treasured grandchildren: Melissa, Tracey, Rory and Kirk Luvison; Haley Stringer; Nadine Westover; Lindsay Wagner and Lacy Thompson; and Carly and Madissen Ostergaard. Also surviving are a number of special great grandchildren: Kylie, Cameron, Josh, Leo, Jasmine, Brady, Collin, Garen, Kaya, Ella, Mia and Phoenix.
In addition to her husband, Nan was preceded in death by two sons, Jef (Marlene) Luvison and Kim Luvison, and a beloved grandson, Joshua Luvison. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by four brothers, William, Dudley, Jack and Dan Warner.
The Nelson Funeral Home, Youngsville, is in charge of arrangements. There will be no calling hours. A memorial mass will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Youngsville Public Library, the Youngsville Volunteer Fire Department or the charity of your choice.
