David F. Barone

David F. Barone

It is with great sadness that the family of David F. Barone announce that he lost a lengthy battle with COPD on Jan. 6, 2026, with his wife and daughter by his side.

David was born in Warren, PA, on May 26, 1942. He was a member of the WAHS class of ’60. After school, he served four years in the Naval Air Branch of the Navy, then returned to Warren County where he was employed as a machinist by the National Forge Company, from which he retired in1997. David was recognized as an exceptionally skilled machinist, a perfectionist with an impressive work ethic.

After retiring, the Barones moved to The Villages, FL, where he resided until his death.

David was a former member of the Pine Grove Lions Club, The Academy of Model Aeronautics, The Orange Blossom Squares Dance Club, and several bowling and golfing organizations. He was a current member of the American Legion Post 0347.

In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, camping, and boating on Chautauqua Lake. He was always happiest near a beach. In recent years, when his health prohibited his playing golf, he enjoyed shooting pool and socializing with a great group of friends.

David lived his belief that a man’s word was his bond. He valued his family, and his friendships, both life-long and those friendships he developed since moving to The Villages.

David is survived by his wife of sixty years, Glenda Eschenbach Barone; daughter Kimberly Waldinger and her partner Jim White of Belleview, FL; granddaughter Carlie Irwin and great grandson Callum Irwin, of Erie, PA; sister-in-law Cathy Giles (Arthur) of Mayville, NY; brother-in-law Randy Eschenbach (Becky) of Sherman, NY; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his life-long best friends Bill and Faye Coddington of Wilmington, NC.

He was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Gloria Barone; sister, Diane Barone; and brother-in-law, Carl Eschenbach.

A military service will be conducted in his honor at Bushnell National Cemetery where he will be interred on Jan. 30, 2026.

Although we weren’t ready to say goodbye, we knew he had to leave. We will miss him every day.

In lieu of flowers, The family suggests those wishing to remember him may send donations to Cornerstone Hospice, 2445 Lane Park Rd., Tavares, FL, 32778; or, because he loved dogs, to an animal shelter of choice.
