Susan Annette Yaegle Huckabone, 84, of Warren, PA., died on Saturday Dec. 20, 2025, in the Rouse Home after an extended illness.
She was born July 13, 1941, in Warren, PA. Sue was the daughter of Robert J. and Lois E. Chambers Yaegle. She was a lifelong Warren area resident and a 1959 graduate of Warren High School. She graduated and earned her Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary and Special Education from Edinboro University Class of 1963. She was employed with the Warren County School District for 30 years, teaching at all Elementary Schools except Tidioute School and was a substitute teacher for 10 years, retiring in 2002. She began her teaching career from Irvinedale Elementary and finished at Pleasant Elementary School. She loved teaching and all of her students. Sue was recognized in Who’s Who in American Colleges.
She enjoyed going to the casino with her son and friends, lunches with friends, one stroke painting, roller skating, bowling, and an avid book reader. She played accordion and organ for personal pleasure. Family, teaching and her home were highlights in her life. Her special goal in life was to be as good of a mother as her mother was to her growing up.
She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, PSEA, Warren County Teacher’s, College Club, Red Hat Society, Women of the Moose Lodge 109, Warren Eagles Aerie, Antique Car Club, Warren Senior Center and had served as President of Zeta Tau Sorority.
She is survived by her son, Steven R. Huckabone and fiance, Grace Feick of Youngsville, PA., 1 Niece – Deborah Ansell and husband, Steve of Warren, PA., 1 Nephew – Thomas Yaegle, Jr. and wife, Mary Ann of Youngsville, PA., 1 Great Niece – Lacy Kvasnikoff and husband, Zach of Hawaii, and 1 Great Nephew – Joe Yaegle and wife Jessica, and their two children, Danielle, and Violet, of Youngsville, PA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Dennis L. Huckabone, whom she dated for 6 ¢ years and met at Russell Roller Rink, whom she married July 18, 1964 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Warren, PA., 1 Daughter – Mary Jo Huckabone who died April 28, 1993, and 1 Brother – Thomas Yaegle, Sr. of Pittsfield, PA.
Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA. on Tuesday Dec. 23, 2025, from 3 to 5 pm. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home at 5 pm with the Rev. Jeff Ewing, pastor of First Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.
