Guy J. Summerson

He was born on Sept. 8, 1929, a son to the late Guy L. and Virginia (Fitch) Summerson. Guy was born and raised in Sugar Grove, Pa and proudly served in the United States Army from 1951-1953. He owned and operated Summerson Plumbing, Heating & Electric for 60 years. He was a member and past Commander of the Sugar Grove American Legion Post #758, Chief Cornplanter Board Member, Cub Scout Leader, a member of the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church as well as the Sugar Grove UM Maintenance Committee. Guy was an avid boxer, basketball player, hunter, fisherman and both boys and girls basketball coach.

Guy is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Geraldine (Miller) Summerson, his children Dart (Mary) Summerson of Sugar Grove, Kim (Dan) MacIvor of Caroga Lake, NY and Cory (Lori) Summerson of Ruskin, FL, his grandchildren, Daryl and Renee Summerson, Ryan and Cody McKinney and Connor and Casey Summerson, a step-grandson, Tanner MacIvor, his great-grandchildren, Isabelle & Violet Summerson and Aela McKinney and his nieces & nephews, Jay Curtis, Marianne Farina, James Blevins, Mike Sanders, Jay Sanders, Mark Sanders, Tim Sanders & Linda Moreo.

In addition to his parents, Guy was preceded in death by a sister, Susan Tourtellotte and his nephew, Todd Curtis.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 13th at the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, 3 Race Street, Sugar Grove, PA 16350, at 11am with the Rev. Bay Allen, pastor, officiating. A private burial will take place in the Wesleyan Cemetery in Sugar Grove.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Sugar Grove Free Library, 22 Harmon St, PO Box 313, Sugar Grove, PA 16350 or to the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, PO Box 225, Sugar Grove, PA 16350.
