Geraldine Rosa Dearstine Mangold
Geraldine Rosa Dearstine Mangold
Geraldine Rosa Dearstine Mangold passed away peacefully on Nov. 26th in Warren, PA at the age of 67.
Rosa was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on July 7, 1958, to Anna Madeline Caballero Dearstine and Charles Myron Dearstine. She earned a Licensed Practical Nurse degree and worked in VA. When she moved to Jacksonville, NC, she worked as a cab driver, before moving to Shefield, PA. Rosa was a gifted hand quilt maker and won awards for her quilts. She was also an amazing cook; her tamales were outstanding! Rosa could see the humor in some of the silly things she did. She had no qualms about telling tales on herself to get a laugh. She was always very giving, with small gifts and kind words, sharing her home-made trail mix, herbs from the garden, or cuttings from her beautiful room full of house plants. Rosa was also an advocate of acceptance of Mental Illness. She was outspoken about getting care and treating mental and emotional health needs as an acceptable aspect of overall health.
Rosa is survived by her husband, Doug Mangold, of Sheffield, PA, her sister, Deloris LeGrand and husband Tony Legrand, and a niece, Ashley Le Grand, of Jacksonville, NC. She is survived by three sons, three grandchildren, one brother and one additional sister.
Rosa was preceded in death by her mother, Anna Madeline Caballero Dearstine, and her father, Charles Myron Dearstine.
There will be a private service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Paws Along The River Humane Society, pawsalongtheriver.org , 212 Elm Street, Warren, PA, 16365, as Rosa was a very loving Dog Mom.
Condolences can be sent to Bofuh@windstream.net.
The family would like to thank the Senior Helpers aides who took great care of her and all the staff at the CCU unit of Warren General Hospital, Warren, PA.
All arrangements for Mrs. Mangold have been placed under the care of the Borden Funeral Home, 203 West Main St., Sheffield, PA, 16347.
