Charles ‘Dick’ Richard Coon
Charles ‘Dick’ Richard Coon, 85, of Warren, PA passed away Thursday, November 27, 2025. Dick was born in Smicksburg, PA on December 14, 1939 to the late Charles and Lola (Sprankle) Coon. Dick was a 1957 graduate of Union Joint High School in Rimersburg, PA. He was also a 1975 graduate of Williamsport Trade School. For over 30 years, Dick worked at GTE Sylvania as a Tool and Die Maker; he also was co-owner of Haugh & Coon Tool Company. He was married to Connie (Hartman) Coon on June 30, 1961 and moved to Warren, PA in 1967 where they put down roots and raised their family.
Dick was very active in the Warren community. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, Pine Grove Sportsman Club, Fraternal Order of Eagles #313, Elks Lodge 223, Moose Lodge 109, Lakewood Rod & Gun, and 32nd Degree member of the Free Masons North Star Lodge #241. In addition to his memberships, he was a previous board member of the now Mountain Laurel Credit Union and spent many hours volunteering and planting flowers around the building. His selflessness was apparent to anyone who knew him. Dick even received recognition from the Community Blood Bank for donating 15 gallons of blood throughout the years.
Some of his favorite things were enjoying time with his family and friends, wintering in Florida for 20 years, taking his grandchildren to the Warren County Fair, setting up chairs days before the 4th of July to ensure his family and friends had a place to sit and enjoy the parade. Dick was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and golfer at Blueberry Golf Club. He also enjoyed hunting, bowling, gardening, reading Westerns and PA Game News, and having breakfast at Peppermill on Tuesdays with his Sylvania retiree group. From tractor rides to graduations, Dick attended every event and celebration with his grandchildren. He enjoyed neighborhood Christmas parties and decorating for the holidays, even decorating the grandkids in Christmas lights and walking the Drumcliffe Circle Luminaire creating precious memories for them.
Dick was always one to welcome you with a smile and a cold Coors Light. He loved to brighten people’s day with his sense of humor or just a friendly conversation. He would do anything for anybody. He was kind and giving and took pride in all that he did. The positivity and brightness he brought into the lives of his family, friends, and into the community will never be forgotten.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Dick leaves behind his high school sweetheart and wife of 64 years, Connie (Hartman) Coon and their adored cat, Finn.
