Lucinda Lea Briggs, 74, of Warren, PA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior after a courageous battle with ALS, on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025. She was born on July 19 in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of the late Carl and Dorothy Seiz. Lucinda grew up in Little Marsh, PA, and graduated from Cowanesque Valley High School in 1969.
A faithful follower of Christ, Lucinda was a devoted member of the Warren First Church of the Nazarene. She lovingly supported her late husband, Marcus, in his ministry as chaplain of Warren General Hospital and the Rouse Home, and in his service with the jail ministry. Together they touched many lives through their compassion and faith.
Lucinda retired from Blair Corporation to spend more time on the farm she and Marcus lovingly tended. Together, they raised many farm animals, including Shetland sheep, and Lucinda found joy in spinning wool and creating beautiful knitted projects. She also made beeswax candles, goat milk soap, and her famous apple pie–always using the gifts of the farm.
She was a woman of many talents: a gifted storyteller, a lover of music who taught herself to play both the piano and flute, and a warm presence who touched everyone she met.
Above all, Lucinda loved God, her family, and her friends deeply. She will be remembered for the way she cared for others, her joyful laughter, and her constant thankfulness for God’s grace in all things.
In addition to her parents, Lucinda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marcus Briggs; her nephew, David Seiz; David’s wife, Ellen; and their son Shawn.
She is survived by her two sons, William Shultz (Lynn) of Russell, PA, and Matthew Shultz (Susan) of Colorado; stepchildren Dan Briggs (Jennifer) of Rochester, NY, Michael Briggs (Janine) of Pottstown, PA, and Monica Backstrom (Donald) of Russell, PA; and several grandchildren who will cherish her memory.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
