Catherine C. Kraft

Catherine C. Kraft, 96, a lifelong resident of Sheffield, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, Oct. 7, 2025, at Saint Mary’s at Asbury Ridge in Erie, PA.

Catherine was born on Feb. 17, 1929, in Sheffield, PA, the daughter of the late Joseph and Isabelle (Canito) Pellegrino. She was a 1948 graduate of Sheffield High School where she was a cheerleader. She married the love of her life and extremely devoted husband, Thomas F. Kraft, on Sept. 30, 1950, in Sheffield, PA at the St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church. Together they raised 2 daughters.

Mrs. Kraft was a homemaker, a loving wife and mother and a pillar of the Sheffield community. She was a lifelong faithful member of Saint Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church of Sheffield, PA. She was a devoted lady who prayed privately, always remembering many in her prayers. She simply adored her family and would always say, “I live for my kids!” A very humble woman who rarely spoke of herself, she was a great listener who often offered guidance to many.

Catherine enjoyed the holidays and decorating her home. But her greatest joy was preparing bountiful, home-cooked meals for the family. She was very community oriented, making delicious homemade dishes for fundraising events at Saint Anthony’s for 30 years. She was a member of the Sheffield Senior Center, where she helped with the cooking as well. She was a former member of S.A.R.A., planting flowers and maintaining the landscape around Sheffield. She volunteered for The American Cancer Society. She was a 50 Plus member of the Catholic Daughters of America. In later years, Catherine looked forward to traveling to Italy to visit with her brother and family.

Left behind to cherish Catherine’s memory are her two daughters, Marianne (Cliff) Pohl , Monroeville, PA and Andrea Schultz (loving partner Tom), Westfield, NY, grandsons Frank (Eva) Schultz and Michael Shultz (loving partner Erica), great grandchildren, Jillian, Jacklyn and Julianna, nephews, Dan

(Diana) Pellegrino, Walter (Paola) Pellegrino, and Silvio (Giuseppina) Pellegrino, sister-in-law, Mrs. Maria Pellegrino of Sheffield. She is further survived by a niece, Mary Angela (Bruce) McLean and devoted cousin Marla Pellegrino, along with great nieces and nephews.

Catherine was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 61 years, Thomas F. Kraft, her parents, Joseph and is Isabelle Pellegrino, sister, Mary Straneva, brothers, Anthony “Joey” Pellegrino, Frank Scarcella, Giovan Battista Pellegrino, along with her infant brothers, niece, Mary “Dolly” Straneva and nephew, Thomas Scarcella.
