Velma M. Witmer

Velma M. Witmer, 101, of Youngsville, formerly of Oil City, passed away peacefully, Saturday, Aug. 30, 2025, at the John and Orpha Blair Hospice House in Warren.

Born May 29, 1924, in Oil City, she was a daughter of the late Wallace and Leta Donaldson Keeley.

A 1942 graduate of Franklin High School, Velma was the last surviving member of her class.

During WWII, while her husband was deployed, she proudly supported the war effort by working for Franklin Plastics making safety masks for pilots.

She worked as a secretary for the Oil City School District for many years.

Velma was a caring woman of faith who was active at Rouse Suites with many friends there. She was an inspiration to all, still walking several times a week and keeping up with current events well after her 100th birthday.

Mrs. Witmer was a 75-year member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Siverly. She was also a 10-year member of First Lutheran Church in Warren most recently where she was active in the Senior Fellowship group.

On Aug. 22, 1943, she was married to Charles L. Witmer who preceded her in death on July 1, 2009.

Surviving are three sons, Charles Witmer, Jr. and his wife Joan of Victor, NY, Wallace Witmer and his wife Diane of Harborcreek, and Randall Witmer and his wife Colleen of Warren; three grandchildren, Ashley Witmer of Warren, Ward Witmer and his wife Shannon of Oil City, and Nathan Trisket and his wife Taylor of Warren; five great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Josie, Brycen, Sam, and Matthew; and several nieces, and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Andrew Keeley and Lee Keeley, and three sisters, Patricia Keeley, Imogene Graham, and Twila Toy.

Viewing will be held Friday from 10 to noon at First Lutheran Church, 109 W. Third Ave, Warren, PA, 16365, where a funeral service will follow at noon with Pastor Jeffrey B. Ewing officiating.

Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery.
