Phillip J. Nuhfer, 96, of Warren, PA., 2 days shy of his 97th birthday, died Monday morning, Sept. 8, 2025, after an extended illness, at Kinzua Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. He was born Sept. 10, 1928, in Warren, PA. Phillip was the son of William J. and Katherine Mansfield Nuhfer, Sr.
Phil was a lifelong Warren area resident and was a member the National Guard in Company I. He was employed with Conewango Valley Country Club as assistant groundskeeper for 37 years, retiring from there in 1994. He was formerly employed with the Penn Furnace Company and Pennsylvania Railroad. He was a member of Holy Redeemer R.C. Church, Warren Senior Center.
Phillip is survived by his 3 Children – James A. Nuhfer and wife, Carol of Harrisburg, PA., Phillip A. Nuhfer and wife, Lucinda of Pleasant Twp., Kenneth A. Nuhfer and wife, Rose of Clarendon, PA., Son-in-law, Thomas Dorrion of Warren, PA.
7 Grandchildren – Chery L. Benford and husband, Kim of Ashborough, N.C., William J. Dorrion and wife, Amy of N. Warren, PA., Jolene A. and Scott Nuhfer both of Harrisburg, PA., Krystal M. Perrett and husband, Daniel of Kane, PA., Kevin A. Nuhfer and wife, Rachel of Warren, PA., Katlyn M. Russell and husband, Daniel of Union City, PA., 7 Great Grandchildren – Raven A. and Ajay Nuhfer of Harrisburg, PA., Jalen Benford of Ashborough, N.C., Matthew and Abagail Russell of Union City, PA., Paxton & Benjamin Perrett of Kane, PA., several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death wife, Marian L. Hook Nuhfer whom he married Jan. 12, 1952, in St. Peter & Paul R.C. Church, Jamestown, N.Y., daughter – Deborah Dorrion who died July 14, 2014, 3 Sisters – Teresa Sanden, Delores Anthony, Martha Laufferty, 5 Brothers – William J., Michael, Richard, Lawrence and Thomas Nuhfer.
Friends may call at Holy Redeemer R.C. Church, 11 Russell St., Warren, PA., on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025, from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. when a Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted with Fr. Mark O’Hern, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Jamestown, N.Y.
