Kathryn L. Barsody

Kathryn L. Barsody

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Kathryn “Kate” Lee Barsody, of Youngsville, Pa, passing on Sept. 5, 2025. She passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side due to complications with an extended illness.

Kate was born in Warren, Pennsylvania on April 9, 1961, to her loving parents, the late John “Ronnie” and Dixie Andrews Bross of Warren.

Kate graduated from Sheffield High Area High School in 1979. She continued onto college at Erie Business College, where she graduated and obtained a degree in accounting. She worked many years as an Accountant at Ellwood National Forge. She decided she wanted to pursue a different career path and went to work at Haines & Co, where she retired.

Kate had a presence about her that made everyone feel seen and important. She had a way of making everyone feel welcome. During her children’s school years, she opened her home to any of their friends, day or night. Her house became the house that everyone gathered at. Whether it was a special occasion, such as pre dance pictures or just a random weekday, the door was always open. That was just the type of person she was, someone that loved people and would be there unconditionally. She radiated kindness and humility; the type of person that’s mark is indelible. She created a beautiful life legacy.

Kate loved the beach, the sun, the sand, and the Gulf of Mexico. The warmth of the sun on her bronze skin brought a smile to her face. She enjoyed outdoor music and entertainment, a good meal, dark beer, daiquiris and watching the beautiful sunsets over the water to end the perfect day! She lived on Lover’s Key in Fort Meyers Beach for a few years. She returned to vacation there every year and spent a few months each year after retiring. This was her favorite place to visit, her happy place.

She is survived by her loving husband, Leonard Barsody, Jr., whom she married on Nov. 22, 2016 Together they built a life full of love and raised a beautiful, blended family with their children, Kelsey (Brandon) Schott, Leonard (Lenny) Barsody, Matthew Barsody, and Carol Anne (Hunter) Adams, all of whom were her pride and joy; her two grandchildren, Asher Schott and Esther Adams, were two of her most cherished beings. She blossomed, being a grandmother and instantly filled with light and happiness anytime she was around them. She is also survived by her mother Dixie Bross and her life partner Jerry Carr; her brother, John “Rusty” Bross; sisters-in-law, Kathy Bross and Marie Barsody; Aunt Carol Waugh; mother-in-law Anne Barsody; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins

She was preceded in death by her father, John “Ronnie” Bross; maternal grandparents, Russell and Florence “Tot” Andrews; paternal grandparents, Michael and Avanelle Bross; father-in-law Leonard Barsody Sr; and nephew Jason Morelli.

In honor of Kate’s life and the way she lived her life, the family asks that you carry on her memory by embracing a daily act of kindness. Let every act big or small serve as a testament to the love and light she permeated this world with, making people feel seen and important. Create beautiful meaningful moments, make life beautiful for others-just as she did.

A private celebration of Kate’s life will be held at the convenience of the family.

The family suggests donations in memory of Kate be made to the Paws Along the River 212 Elm St., Warren Pa. or a charity of choice.
