Joyce M. Baxter O’Connor, of Warren, PA, died peacefully in her sleep on Sept. 14th, 2025 at the Rouse Home. She was born February 7, 1926, in Warren, PA. She was employed at Commerce Oil Corporation after graduating in 1944 from Warren area high school.
She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, singing in the choir for 50 years. Joyce was an avid bowler who bowled well into her 90’s. She also enjoyed playing cards, crocheting and knitting beautiful blankets, doilies, and potholders.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Toner and her husband, William, a son, Robert O’Connor and his wife, Debbie; two sister-in-laws: Ellen Gilson, and Janet Denardi, 9 grandchildren: Brian and Mark Sweet, David O’Connor, Emily Bergeron, Caitlin Gabriel, Taryn O’Connor, Melissa McCracken, Christopher Madigan, Jennifer Robinson and two step-grandchildren, Bill and Sue Toner, and 10 great grand-children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eleanora and Harry Baxter, her husband Edwin (Dougie) E. O’Connor who died May 25, 1977, a daughter, Beverly Sweet and her husband William Jeffrey, along with 5 brothers and 5 sisters: Robert Baxter, Emerson Baxter, Bernice Bentz, Noris Baxter, Dorthy Greene, Eleanor (Jeanie) Dahler, Marcia Peck, Harry Baxter, Carol Eckstrom, and Calvin Baxter.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 20, at 4pm at The First Methodist Church in Warren, PA with reception to follow. Donations may be made in her honor to The First Methodist Church or American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
