Harold L. Roberts, Jr.
Harold Leonard Roberts, Jr., a proud United States Army veteran, passed away peacefully, at the age of 76, on Monday, Sept. 15, 2025, at the home where he was born.
Born Aug. 7,1949, in Columbus, Pennsylvania, Harold was the son of Harold L. Robert’s Sr, and Thelma Jean (Grimes) Roberts. He grew up in the area and graduated from Mayville High School in Mayville, New York.
At the age of 20, Harold was drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War. He served his country with honor for 20 years, attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class (E7). His military service was a point of deep pride throughout his life.
Harold was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and had a lifelong appreciation for animals. He enjoyed classic cars and rebuilding them and their engines. Above all, he treasured his family and the life he built with them.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Donna Jean (Gregerson) Roberts of Columbus, GA; daughter Lisa R. Roberts (Billy) of Hamilton, GA; and son Jason S. Roberts of Columbus, PA. He was a proud grandfather to Seth Fidler (Megan) of Wilsonville, OR; Alexander Boggs (Sarah) of Knoxville, TN; Sophia Salander (Oliver) of Clovis, NM; Cyndi Neufeld of Des Moines, IA; and Arianna Roberts of Auburn, AL. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren; his sisters Faith Roberts-Sheehan of Fredonia, NY; Cheryl Stanford (James) of Jamestown, NY; and Edna Messenger of Jamestown, NY; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends and his feline companions.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; sister Jean M. Michel; and his brothers Jay E. Roberts, Bobby L. Roberts, and James L. Roberts.
A memorial service honoring Harold’s life will be held at the family home, 35 W. Main Street, Columbus, PA, on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025, at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at a later date at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery in Fort Mitchell, Alabama.
