Eleanor F. Covell

Eleanor Frances (Ross) Covell, 88, of Warren, PA.

Eleanor, affectionately known as Dewey to her friends, sisters and grandchildren, was born on Feb. 19, 1937, in Titusville, PA, to the late Raymond and Frances (Shaw) Ross.

She passed peacefully into the arms of her awaiting family members on Monday, Sept. 8, 2025, at Kinzua Health and Rehabilitation in Warren, PA, following a brief illness.

Eleanor graduated in 1955 from Colestock High School in Titusville. Growing up, she spent many hours roller skating at the rinks in Titusville and Canadohta Lake with her parents and siblings. After working briefly at the local radio station, she married Gene Covell, her husband of 68 years, on March 15, 1957.

After living in Titusville and later Franklin, PA, Gene and Dewey moved to Warren in 1964 and made that their home. Eleanor worked as a personal assistant to Joe and Barbara DeFrees for many years, and later as receptionist for Dr. John Robertson until his retirement.

Besides her family, one of her greatest accomplishments was deciding on a whim one day in 1988 that she wanted to go look at this old, dilapidated camp on the Allegheny River, deciding “it has potential” and convincing Gene to sell his beloved red Corvette to buy the camp.

Left behind to cherish her memory, in addition to Gene, are her three daughters: Kathy (Jamie) Mohney, Lisa (Brian) Moldovan, and Tracey (Ed) Munch; six grandchildren: Jacob Mohney, Alex (Lauren) Shreffler, Paige Moldovan, Kylie Munch, Allix Munch, and Lincoln (Dan) Pascuzzi; and her great-grandchildren Jaelyn, Wade and Quinn Mohney, Lily Shreffler, and Elliott, Jones and Keane Pascuzzi. Eleanor is also survived by her sister Jeannette Huber of Rouseville, PA, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, June Coates, of Canadohta Lake, PA.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family, with burial at Oakland Cemetery in Warren, PA.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to Hospice of Warren County, 1 Main Ave, Warren, PA 16365.
