William L. Bunce Jr.

William L. Bunce Jr., 82, of Warren, PA, beloved husband of the late Judy (Adams)Bunce, devoted father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Aug. 6, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Born in 1943 in Franklin, PA, he was the son of the late William L. Bunce Sr. and Florence K. (Snyder) Bunce. Bill was a 1961 graduate of Rocky Grove High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Clarion University. He married Judy, his high school sweetheart, at the age of 18, and they were married for 60 years. Bill taught math at Beaty Junior High School for 35 years, retiring in 2000. During those years, he spent summers painting houses with several of his teaching colleagues.

Bill was a longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church and was very active over the years–teaching Sunday School, leading men’s Bible study, and serving on the Board of Trustees. He could often be found in the church kitchen, cooking for men’s breakfasts or serving as his wife’s right hand in preparing meals for church events. He was a member of the Kalbfus Rod & Gun Club, served as treasurer for Trout Unlimited, and was active with Gideons International.

An avid outdoorsman, Bill enjoyed fishing, hunting, shooting skeet, and sporting clays. He especially cherished sharing his love of nature, hunting, and fishing with his children and grandchildren. A man of few words, he lived his life as a quiet example of how to honor God, love others, and live with humility.

Bill is survived by his two children: Gary Bunce and wife Tammi of Durham, NC, and Kathy Minges of Collegeville, PA; four grandchildren: Jake and Averie Bunce of Durham, NC; Megan Minges of Spring City, PA; and Ronnie Minges of Tampa, FL.

He is also survived by his sister, Mary Kay, and husband Russ Campbell of Franklin, PA, sister-in-law Linda Cochran and her husband, Charles, sister-in-law Betty Adams of Franklin, PA, and sister-in-law Ann Adams of Franklin, PA along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judy (Adams) Bunce, in 2022.
