John F. Aldrich

John Floyd Aldrich, 72, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at UPMC Hamot Medical Center, Erie, PA., after a brief illness. He was born Dec. 2, 1952, in Warren, PA.

John was a 1970 graduate of Eisenhower High School. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Western Kentucky University. He served as Director of the Warren County Transit Authority until his retirement in 2017. He had a lifelong love of golf, working as a caddie at Jackson Valley Golf Course, in his youth, and attended college on a golf scholarship. In retirement he enjoyed working and playing golf at Jackson Valley. He was proud of making a hole in one on two separate occasions at that course in addition to winning the Men’s Club Championship in 2006 and the Senior Club Championship in 2022. At home he enjoyed gardening, household projects, and battling the squirrels that tried to invade his bird feeders. He was also a HAM Radio enthusiast who achieved an Amateur Extra class license. He would spend hours speaking to people from around the world using the call sign W3JA.

John was a man of strong faith who most recently attended Cable Hollow Church. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, who valued his family and friends above all else, and he will be greatly missed by all those fortunate enough to know him.

John is survived by Jan, his wife of 48 years. The couple wed in Sunfish, KY, after meeting at Western Kentucky University. They lived briefly in Louisville, KY and Conneaut, OH, before returning to Warren. John is also survived by his daughter, Abigail, his son, Daniel, and his sisters, Frances Perrin, Sharon Aldrich (Corny Gallagher), and Kathleen Cutshall

He was was the only son of Sophie Muczynski Aldrich and Gordon Aldrich. He was preceded in death by his parents and and his brother-in-law, Gerald “Butch” Perrin.

Friends and family will be received on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc, 304 East St., Warren, PA., from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. and on Monday, July 7, 2025, from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. when a funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Alan Jones, Pastor of Cable Hollow Church, officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph R.C. Cemetery, Warren, PA.

If you are unable to attend the funeral, John’s family extends a very warm welcome to his friends, neighbors, and fellow golfers to a luncheon at Jackson Valley Golf Course at 1pm.
