Jeffrey D. English

Jeffrey D. English
Jeffrey D. English of Russell, PA passed away peacefully at home surrounded by love on Sunday July 6, 2025, following a courageous four year battle with cancer. He was born Jan. 12, 1961, the fourth son to the late Norman “Dale” and Marlyn A. (Peterson) English. He was a 1979 graduate of Eisenhower High School and a 1982 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh Bradford with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. He worked in numerous positions across many fields, but found his real calling in the advanced solar energy field.
Jeff was a longtime member of the Church of the Nazarene.
He married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Pamela Kibbey English, on Aug. 2, 1986, at the Russell United Methodist Church. She cared for him at home until the end as were his wishes.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children Matthew English, and Dr. Rachel Turfitt and husband Edward “Teddy”, PA; three grandchildren, Vega English, Margot Turfitt, and Clara Turfitt; three brothers, Norman “Michael” (Jeanne) English, Gary (Sue) English, and Randal (Dawn) English. He also leaves behind an extended family too large to list to which he was tirelessly devoted.
Jeff was an avid outdoorsman and was always quick to meet new people, or, as his mother always used to say “there are no strangers; just people you haven’t met yet”. He was a devout lover of Christ, a loving father and husband, and lover of anything involving his grandchildren.
In his testimony given to the church shortly before his passing, he implored us all to count our blessings, as he had been spending his “3 AM conversations with God” doing so. At the end, he was humbled by how many gifts his life had brung him in spite of the growing awareness of his mortality. He would have wanted each and every one of us, independent of whether you knew him or not, to spend some time counting your blessings and giving thanks to God for all of the gifts he has given you.
