Richard P. Zydonik

Richard P. “Capt” Zydonik, 88, of Warren, PA., died Sunday morning, June 8, 2025, at Warren General Hospital after a brief illness. He was born Dec. 1, 1936, in Altoona, PA. Richard was a Warren area resident since 1971, moving from Darien Center, New York. He attended Erie’s Academy High School. He served with the U.S. Army Signal Corps as a Sergeant 1956-1959. He was employed with Loranger International as a maintenance electrician, retiring from there after many years of employment. He had previously been employed as manager of the former Cole’s Landing Restaurant and purchased Wades Woods Campground in Scandia, PA which he operated successfully with his family for many years.

Richard was a lifelong member of Warren Elks Lodge 223. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying golf, hunting and fishing. Above all, Richard cherished time with his family. His greatest joy came from time spent with loved ones, whether gathered around the table, celebrating life’s milestones, or sharing quiet everyday moments. He gave love freely, offered unwavering support, and created a home filled with laughter, and belonging. Richard’s legacy lives on in the hearts of the family he adored so deeply.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ruth May Brownell Zydonik, whom he married June 8, 1957, in Erie, PA. 5 Children – Richard Zydonik and wife, Laurie of Findlay, OH., Robin Bauer and husband, Scott of Russell, PA., Randy Zydonik and wife, Holly of Anderson, S.C., Ronald Zydonik and wife, Leigh of Phoenix, AZ., Raymond Zydonik and wife, Melissa of Warren, PA., 1 Brother – Harold Schwartz and wife, Carol of Erie, PA., 5 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Zydonik and 1 Brother – Robert Zydonik. A private Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family.
