For many years George also ran a side business, Loomis & Son Wheelhorse, where he sold and repaired lawn and garden tractors and accessories.
George, the son of the late Orville and Gertrude (Manelick) Loomis, was born on April 5, 1942 in Garland, PA. He graduated from Youngsville High School in 1960 and attended Grove City College and the Pennsylvania State University where he majored in industrial engineering. He also attended the Machinist Apprenticeship Program at General Electric Company, Erie, PA.
