Barry A. Tingley

Barry A. Tingley
Barry Tingley, 80, lived life with purpose, humor, and heart. A proud Army veteran, avid bowler and golfer, and devoted family man, he believed deeply in community–and spent his life building it. Whether it was through bowling leagues, card games with family and friends, or early morning coffee conversations, Barry brought people together and made them feel like they belonged.
After the military, Barry served as Vice President of Try-M in Warren, PA. Then he became a small business entrepreneur, best known as the owner of Penn Bowling Alley in Warren, PA and founder of Valley Bowling Center in Youngsville, PA. Bowling wasn’t just a sport for Barry–it was a way to bring joy, teach life lessons, and create a place where everyone felt welcome. He coached hundreds of junior bowlers and helped create countless memories for families throughout Warren County.
He and his wife of 50 years, Nody, built a full and joyful life together filled with antiquing, landscaping, hunting, and shared adventures with their daughters, Karen (Don) in Brooklyn, NY, and Laura (Alex) in Parker, CO, and their grandchildren, Lily, Jack, Hudson and Desmond. Barry brought laughter, guidance, and unwavering support to his family.
He was proud to be the mayor of Youngsville, PA before retiring 20 years ago and moving with Nody to Summerfield, Florida. He found a new community in Stonecrest and was the neighbor who always showed up when someone needed help–ready with tools, advice, or just a steady hand. In recent years, as Barry faced health challenges, his siblings Ron (Michelle), Terry (Pat), and Beverly, along with Stonecrest friends, became caregivers and companions–a gift for which Nody, Karen, and Laura will always be grateful.
Barry never stopped loving baseball. A highlight of his final months was attending a MLB spring training game with 19 family members, making a memory that will never fade.
He lived a good life – a life on his terms, a life of conviction, kindness, and commitment to others. Barry smiled with his eyes and left those around him stronger, supported, and more loved.
A service will be held at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Belleview, FL at 10 AM on June 16.
One of Barry’s proudest moments was the time he spent working with young bowlers as a part of the Special Olympics. As such, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Barry’s name to Warren County Special Olympics – Bowling PO Box 752 Warren, PA 16365.
