James F. Agnew
James F. “Aggie” Agnew, 62, of Warren, PA., died Monday morning, May 19, 2025, at his residence, of natural causes. He was born Feb. 12, 1963, in Warren, PA. He was the son of the late Jan F. and Cindi Ponsoll Agnew. Jim was a 1981 graduate of Warren Area High School, where he excelled in basketball, baseball and football. He earned his Bachelors of Science degree in communications from Slippery Rock University. Jim was employed as an insurance salesman with Burns and Burns Insurance Agency. He was office manager/accountant with R.E. Baker & Sons of Clarendon, PA., for 26 years. Jim was an avid sports enthusiast, was a die-hard Pittsburgh Pirates fan, making it to many of the first home opening game day. He also was a great Pittsburgh Steelers, Notre Dame Football and Buffalo Sabres Fan. He loved attending several rock concerts with his wife, Denise and many friends. Jim was a very active member with the Warren Elks Lodge 223, where he organized several Christmas raffles and fundraisers for their summer picnic. He was also a member of the
Struthers Hose and a former member and past president of the Warren Exchange Club, where he was Master of Ceremonies of the annual Turkey Party and was “Frozen on Ice” a fundraiser for the club. He enjoyed hunting with his dad, Jan. He was an avid trout fisherman and loved attending the first day of trout at Farnsworth Lodge. Jim loved playing golf at Jackson Valley Golf Course. Jim is lovingly remembered by his family, as a man of great love for his wife, sister, family and friends. He always had an infectious smile, a laugh that filled the room. He was about making others feel comfortable, his joy was being with people. He is survived by his wife of almost 35 years, Denise Anderson Agnew whom he married June 2, 1990, in Jamestown, N.Y., his sister, Julie Dalton and husband, Greg of Warren, PA., father-in-law, Roger Anderson and his wife, Mary Ann of Ashville, N.Y., his sister’s dog, Finley, whom he dearly loved, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Diane Kulig DeSantis and her husband, James.
Friends and family will be received at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA., on Friday, May 23, 2025, from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 P.M. where the Warren Elks Lodge members will conduct their funeral ritual at 8 PM. Friends and family are encouraged to wear your favorite sports jersey to the visitation. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 1:30 P.M. at First Presbyterian Church, 300 Market St., Warren, PA. with Rev. Ralph Culp, Pastor of Covenant United Methodist Church, officiating, assisted by Rev. Tara Eastman.
