Paul Haslet Millin, 81, of Tionesta, PA, passed away March 25, 2025, at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, SC, after a period of declining health.
Paul was born in Warren, PA on Feb. 7, 1944, son of the late Hugh Wilson and Alma Marian (Haslet) Millin. He graduated from West Forest High School in 1962. He then went on to receive his Bachelor’s Degree from Maryville College in Maryville, TN, and his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN. He served in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General Corps from 1969 to 1971 and then began his illustrious law career.
Paul served as District Attorney for Forest County from 1972 to 1994 and was a partner in the law firm Swanson, Bevivino, Millin, and Gilford. In 1994, he was appointed the President Judge of the 37th Judicial District, consisting of Warren and Forest Counties, by Governor Casey. He was then elected in 1995 and served as President Judge until 2005, when he retired and became Senior Judge until 2019. He was a member of the American Judicature Society, the American Judges Association, the PA Juvenile Court Judges Commission, the National Juvenile Court Judges Association, and was a graduate of the National Judicial College.
Paul was an avid football fan. If it was Saturday, he was watching the University of Tennessee Volunteers, and if it was Sunday, he was watching or attending a Pittsburgh Steelers game. He loved to read and to play golf, but his greatest joy always came with just spending time with family.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Cynthia Sue (Faulkner) Millin of Tionesta. Two sons, David J. Millin and his wife Lorraine of Concord, OH; and Jerome F. Millin and his wife Tracey of Venus, PA, and their children Briann and Madison. His daughter, Christie L. Detch and her husband Matthew of Indianapolis, IN, and her children Jordan and Zachary. Another grandchild, Quintin M. Taylor of Tionesta. His brother John E. Millin and his wife Pamela of Tionesta. His sister, Mary Anne Settlemire and her husband Thomas of Grove City, PA. His sister-in-law Cheryl Millin of Tionesta, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Hugh Wilson Millin Jr. and James Earl Millin.
There will be a Celebration of Life from 1-4 P.M. on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the Hunter Station Golf Course, 1723 Hunter Station Road, Tionesta, PA 16353. There will be a private graveside service at Riverside Cemetery in Tionesta. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta.
