Linda (Smith) Alspaugh
Linda (Smith) Alspaugh passed peacefully in her home on March 13, 2025, after a two-year battle with brain cancer (glioblastoma). Linda was born in Jamestown, New York on January 2, 1952, the daughter of the late Charles and Rosalind Smith.
Linda graduated from Youngsville High School in 1969. She earned her B.S. in psychology from SUNY Brockport. Linda had a gift for working with children and throughout her adult life she worked with Head Start, the Warren County School District as a teacher’s aide, and as a Therapeutic Support Staff with Beacon Light. She approached her work with great patience, care, and joy. She often said how much she loved her job and going to work each day.
Linda had a passion for reading, especially biographies and non-fiction works. She enjoyed walking with her neighborhood friends and spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters. Linda was generous and gracious and will be deeply missed by her loved ones.
Linda is survived by her husband, George Alspaugh, her son, Pete (Heather) Alspaugh and her granddaughters, Mya and Macy Alspaugh, her daughter, Jo (Timothy) Theisen, two sisters, Sherry Hagberg and Karen (Rich) Gorton, and one brother, Larry Smith.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Rosalind Smith, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Charles and Ethel Alspaugh, and her brother-in-law, Bob Hagberg.
A private funeral service will be held at Nelson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Youngsville, PA.
Friends and family are welcome to attend a funeral reception in celebration of Linda’s life at Mission Covenant Church in Sugar Grove, PA on March 18, 2025, from 4 – 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Hospice of Warren County, 1 Main Avenue, Warren, PA 16365.
