James L. Fiscus

James L. Fiscus, 91, formerly of Indiana, PA, passed away peacefully at Warren General Hospital on March 26, 2025 following a brief illness.

Jim was born in Indiana on June 8, 1933 to Viola B. (Hopkins) Fiscus and J. Frank Fiscus. He recently moved to the Rouse Suites in Youngsville, PA to be closer to family.

Jim graduated from Indiana Area High School and entered the Army after graduation where he served as a photographer during the Korean Conflict. He once captured photos of President Dwight D. Eisenhower addressing his platoon which were later published in newspapers around the country.

After discharge from the military, Jim returned to Indiana where he married Beverly M. (Grove) Fiscus on December 2, 1955. They were married 65 years until her passing in 2020.

He began his employment at the Spaulding Wire Factory in Buffalo, New York. The couple returned to Indiana in 1956 and Jim went on to attend the American Institute of Banking at Bucknell University. He then began a long career at Farmer’s Bank and PNC Bank, both in Indiana, where he was known and loved by many as the “teller of choice”. Jim loved to fish and was always willing to share a story about “the one that got away.”

In addition to his wife, Jim was also preceded in death by his parents, Viola and Frank, and his son-in-law Syd Rivera.

Surviving are his three children, Kathleen A. (Fiscus) Rivera, Bethany Beach, DE; James M. (Cynthia) Fiscus, Russell, PA; and Mark W. (Laura) Fiscus, Bradenton, FL. Also surviving are his six grandchildren Malia (Rivera) D’Angio, Makanalani Rivera, Michael Fiscus, Garrett Fiscus, Brian Fiscus and Kristina Fiscus.

Friends will be received at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home, 898 Old Route 119 Highway, Indiana, PA, 15701 on Monday, March 31, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and for one hour prior to a service that will be held there at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. Private burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery.
