Mary Shannon

She was born on April 3, 1936, in Columbus, PA, a daughter of the late Arden and Hazel (Johnson) Bull.

She was raised and educated in Corry and graduated from Corry Area High School in 1954. After high school, she was a teller at the Marine Bank in Corry. She enjoyed being a teller, where she made many friends over the years, especially her lifelong friend, Mary Matteson.

Mary and Lyle enjoyed working on their home, it was their pride and joy. They won the Garden Club Award in Corry in 2018. She was an avid reader, landscaping and working in their flower gardens. She also enjoyed spending time with the family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle T. Shannon, whom she married in 1966 in Cumberland, MD; sister, Helen Ward; three sisters-in-law, Shirley Bull, Marge Linderman and Mary Hegner; brother, Robert Bull; four brothers-in-law, Paul Shannon, Raleigh Shannon, Walter Ward and Bruce Smackey and nephew, James Ward.

Mary is survived by her son, Daniel (Christine “Chris”) Shannon of Russell, PA; sister, Ardeth Smackey of Garden City, ID; brother, Frank (Peg) Bull of Clymer, NY; brother-in-law, Richard Shannon; sister-in-law, Mercena Shannon; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call at Bracken Funeral Home, Inc., 315 N. Center St, Corry, PA 16407 on Friday, January 17th from 10 am until the time of the funeral service there at 12 noon. Pastor Les Utegg will officiate.

Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Corry, PA.
