Lovena Pearl DeVore Rulander
Lovena Pearl DeVore Rulander, 91, of Youngsville, PA, and formerly of North Warren, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the Rouse Warren County Home.
Lovena was born June 21,1933, in Youngsville, PA, the daughter of Fred C. and Nettie Jones Devore. She graduated from Warren High School in 1951 and married Frederick A. Rulander, Jr. She was employed by GTE Sylvania as a switchboard operator. Later, while raising a family, Lovena enjoyed a variety of positions including tax collector. She also worked at Craftman Printers, Warren National Bank, Parker Hunter, and Warren Times Observer.
Lovena’s hobbies included cooking, baking, knitting, wintering in Florida, camping, square dancing and snowmobiling. Family was important to Lovena. She and Fred traveled frequently to visit children and grandchildren. She was a member of the North Warren Presbyterian Church and the North Warren Women’s Auxiliary.
Lovena is survived by two children, Sheila Rulander Slaughter and husband Ross of Mount Vernon, OH, and Frederick A. Rulander, III and wife, Kristine Loverme Rulander of League City, TX; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Lester Rulander of Youngsville, PA; and sister-in-law, Jerri Rulander of Warren; and several nieces and nephews.
Lovena was preceded in death by her husband Fred of 73 years, her parents, and siblings Virginia Kellerman, Lorraine Stanton, Ray DeVore, Lyle DeVore, Donald DeVore; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at Peterson-Blick Funeral Home Inc., 1003 Penna. Ave. East, Warren, PA, on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, from 10:00am to 11:00am, at which time a funeral service will be held with Rev. Ross Slaughter, son-in-law, officiating.
