Jay L. Rowan

Jay L. Rowan, 65, a lifelong area resident of Warren, PA, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at the Warren Manor.

Jay was born July 29, 1959, in Warren, the son of the late Chesley B. and Mary Louise (Lawhead) Rowan. He was a 1977 graduate of Warren Area High School and completed the Carpenter Apprenticeship Program Union Local 1014.

Later in life, Jay really enjoyed fishing with his daughter, Deidra. The two of them would spend hours at Chapman Dam enjoying the sport of fishing and each other’s company as often as possible. One of his greatest skills was carpentry and he loved building things for other people, especially for his wife, Chris.

Jay is survived by his wife, Christine (Knopf) Rowan, whom he married on February 14, 2004; daughter Deidra L. Brown and husband Chris of Jamestown, NY; two granddaughters, Harper and Juniper; brothers, David A. Rowan and wife Linda of Christiansburg, VA, and William C. Rowan and wife Teresa of Warren, PA; nieces and nephews, Mike, Andy, Grace, and Yvonne.

In addition to his parents, Jay was preceded in death by his nephew, Ben Rowan.

Jay loved gathering with others for a meal such as family reunions and church picnics. To honor that, you are invited to bring a dish to share with others for a fellowship meal on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 11:30 am, at First Church of the Nazarene, 907 Penna. Ave. East, Warren, PA. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 1:00pm, with Reverend J. Maier, pastor, officiating. Feel free to arrive comfortable and casual. Buffalo Bills attire is also welcome.
