Joyce Louise Mead

Joyce was born April 28, 1930, in Warren, the daughter of the late Edward Flick and Gertrude Chinberg Flick. She graduated from Warren High School and worked for Mead Oil as a secretary, all the while being a wonderful homemaker and cook.

Joyce was active at the Warren First Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed needlework, reading, music, and liked watching little children at play. She found great comfort in God’s universe and creation, the trees, birds, animals, hills, and the sky. Joyce’s favorite Bible verses were, Psalms 121, Ephesians 4:32, and Proverbs 3:5-8. Her two favorite hymns were “Calvary Covers it All,” and “Wonderful Peace.”

Joyce is survived by three children, James Mead and wife Melody of Sheffield, PA, Paula Tandoi of Gig Harbor, WA, and Wendy Perkins and husband George of Pittsfield, PA; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death on Dec. 6, 2007, by her husband, Geary Paul Mead, whom she married on Aug. 21, 1948; daughter, Patricia Davis on Feb. 27, 2013; two brothers, James Flick in June 1948, and Douglas Flick on April 23, 2014.

Friends will be received at Peterson-Blick Funeral Home Inc., 1003 Penna Ave. East, Warren, PA, on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024, from 1 pm to 2 pm, at which time a funeral service will be held there, with Reverend J. Maier, pastor, First Church of the Nazarene, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions for Joyce may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene, 907 Penna. Ave. East, Warren, PA, or to Paws Along the River, 212 Elm St., Warren, PA.
