John Edward Armstrong Sr., age 67, passed away unexpectedly on August 9, 2024, one week after celebrating his 38th wedding anniversary with his wife, Sheryl.
Born on December 6, 1956, John was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who left an indelible mark on the lives of all who knew him.
John dedicated 35 years of his life to serving at the Youngsville Borough, where he was known for his exceptional work ethic, abilities and knowledge. A master mechanic and skilled carpenter, John took great pride in his craftsmanship. He built his own home with his own hands, a testament to his incredible talent and dedication. His passion for building extended beyond his home; he crafted model planes, tanks, and classic cars, a hobby that brought him immense joy. John loved classic cars, especially mopars, along with planes, tanks and guns. He was also a long time, well-loved Patron of Double D’s Bar and Restaurant where he enjoyed having a drink with his friends.
John was well-loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cathy and Robert Armstrong, his brother, Michael Armstrong, and his grandson, Cole Rieder. He is survived by his wife, Sheryl Zock Armstrong; siblings, Peggy Dimmick, Dave Armstrong, and Rick Armstrong; his children, Jocelyn Rieder, Julissa Lancour, John Armstrong Jr., and Stevi Armstrong; and his grandchildren, Jaycob Rieder, Alexxa Rieder, Eli Rickert, Bristol Anderson and Colter Anderson. John’s faithful dog, Charlie, and his goat, Nigel, will also feel the absence of his presence.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor the life of a man who meant so much to so many.
