Gordon Glenn Schell
Gordon Glenn Schell
Gordon Glenn Schell, 62, Sugar Grove, PA, passed from this earthly life in the early morning hours of Saturday, Aug. 17, 2024, while at UPMC Hamot Hospital in Erie, PA, after losing a seven-month battle with liver cancer.
Gordon led an ambitious life. Besides being a veteran of the US Air Force shortly after his 1980 graduation from Warren Area High School, he ran the Warren Mall Kwik Fill, owned Schell Landscaping for several years, worked at West Penn Oil, the Youngsville Borough, drove truck for several different companies and for the past several years has been a great friend to the local Amish community by offering transportation services to several families. Over the past 30-plus years, Gordon was also heavily involved with his brother Ward as part of the 61s Schell Race Team. He enjoyed pitting and assisting on the many race cars over the years and up until his cancer diagnosis, could be found at many dirt race tracks, cheering his brother on and enjoying the sport.
Gordon was preceded in death by his mother Joan (Armstrong) Cristofora and father, Charles “Jack” Schell. He is survived by his loving companion of many years, Dianne Graham, his three children and their spouses, AJ (Tonya) Moore of Erie, PA, Dustin (Amanda) Schell of Denver, CO, Starrlene (Chris) Wilson, of Warren, PA and Rachael Graham of Youngsville, PA. He is also survived by siblings, Clomer “Larry” (Kim) Woodin, Merle Woodin, Gwen Woodin, Ward (Betsy) Schell, eight grandchildren, Scott, Hunter, Devon, Araya, Maeleigh, Kenzie, Jeremy and Maddie along with aunts, an uncle, several cousins, nieces, nephews and even a few great nephews and nieces, and last, but certainly not least, his beloved fur-kids!
Gordy, as he was affectionately referred to, will be missed by many as he was considered a friendly, lovable, teddy bear of a guy, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He has had many friends over the years that have been more like another family to him that he cherished very much.
We wish to thank all that have reached out and extended their condolences to Gordon’s family in this time of sorrow. There has been an enormous outpouring of love from all that knew him and it is greatly appreciated.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 28, from 1-5pm at the Youngsville Firehall, 29 Fireman Drive, Youngsville, PA 16371.
The Nelson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, in Youngsville, have been entrusted with all arrangements. Condolences to the family may be made at nelsonfuneralhome.net.
