Clyde Edward Yonkie,74, a longtime Sheffield resident passed away peacefully on Friday evening, August 16, 2024, at UPMC Hamot Hospital in Erie, PA after a brief illness. He was born on January 2, 1950, in Ridgway, PA, the son of the late George and Marian (Grady) Yonkie. Clyde was a graduate of Ridgway High School. He was employed at Sheffield Township Maintenance Department, retiring from the road crew as Road Master.
Clyde enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a stock car fan. His favorite holiday was the Fourth of July. Clyde was a kind, soft spoken man who always had time for others. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him, especially his family who loved spending time with him. He looked forward to every chance to see his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Judith (Snyder), whom he married July 15, 1972 and a brother Paul E Yonkie.
He is survived by three daughters Christine Yonkie (Craig Thomas) of Clarendon, Sherri (Matt) Bancroft of Warren and Erin (Trevor) Maze of Tidioute. He is further survived by his grandchildren Ashley (Tyler) Hoffman, Kyle Bancroft (Megan Downs), Savannah Maze, Mitchell Bryant, Harley Maze (Cole Lenze) and Marvin (Alexis) Bryant, three great grandchildren, Lily and Evelyn Hoffman and Mila Bryant and many nieces and nephews. Lastly, he is survived by a sister Patricia Himes and dear friends Doug and Patsy, Glenn and Valerie and Ed and Sharon.
Public visitation for Clyde will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Borden Funeral Home, 203 W. Main Street, Sheffield, PA. Additional visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at the Warren Alliance Church, 278 Kinzua Road, Warren, PA. Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Jim Chapman presiding. The burial will take place at a later date at Barnes Cemetery.
