Roger Schmader, 67 of Cooperstown passed away on July 4, 2024, in Pittsburgh, PA after an extended illness of six years. Roger was born in Manistee, Michigan on Jan. 3, 1957. He was the son of Paul Joseph and Delores Barbara Maynard Schmader.
In 1974, Roger graduated from Warren Area High School and began employment with New Process in Irwin, PA until 1979. He then was subsequently employed as a print operator at Quaker State. He also worked various odd jobs in the area.
Roger was married to Nora Morton Schmader for 36 years and together they had three children Emily Fern (Ryan) Hallermeier of Glenmoore, Jared Paul (Leirin) Schmader of Cochranton, and Alison Marie (Michael) Wambach of Philadelphia.
Roger played guitar and bass in worship bands and mentored youth at various area churches. He loved playing his guitar and golfing.
In addition to the mother of children, Nora, Roger is survived by his three children, Emily, Jared, and Alison. He is also survived by, his sister, Susan Bello of Warren and two brothers Alan and Brian (Jolene) Schmader both of Warren. Further surviving are his four grandchildren Natalie, Myles, Melanie, and Greta and his girlfriend, Linda Daniels of Butler.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Paul J. Schmader Jr.
A memorial service will be held at 4 pm Friday, July 19, 2024, at Bradleytown United Methodist Church with Glen Williams presiding. Family and friends are welcome to attend dinner at the church following the service.
