Rushford — Marcella G. Weaver, 98, a former long-time resident of Rushford, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, July 22, 2024 in Kinzua Healthcare and Rehabilitation Facility, Warren, PA.
She was born on February 12,1926 in Buffalo, a daughter of the late Victor and Ruth Schuknecht Bennett.
On May 12, 1946 in the Centerville United Methodist Church she married Kent M. Weaver who predeceased her on July 25, 2006.
Marcella was a graduate of Fillmore Central School, class of 1944, and worked in the Rushford Central School cafeteria for over 15 years. After retiring from the school she cleaned houses for people in the Rushford area and served on the Rushford Election Board for several years.
She loved watching and feeding birds, crocheting, gardening and watching the Buffalo Sabres. Later in life, when she was not so busy, her granddaughter helped her to like reading books.
As a longtime member of the Rushford Baptist Church, she served as Sunday School Treasurer for a number of those years. More recently she was a member of the Bellville Wesleyan Church and then the Warren Wesleyan Church in Pennsylvania.
Surviving are her children, Dennis (Corrine) Weaver of Pittsfield, MA, Marilyn (Roy) DeVries of Warren, PA, Harrison (Regina) Weaver of Battle Creek, MI, her grandchildren, Beth (Jacob) DeVine, Ruth Rushford, Henry (Hannah) DeVries, Jennie (Nathaniel) Schmidt, Seth (Hannah) DeVries, Cora (James) Chicca, Evelene (Jeremy) Schram, Miles (Olivia) Weaver, Joseph (Piper) Weaver, 20 great- grandchildren, a sister, Barbara Copeland and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by a brother, Arthur Bennett, a sister, Winona Langley and a granddaughter, Sarah Weaver.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024 at 11:00 am in the Rushford Baptist Church. Pastor Joseph Weaver, Marcella’s grandson, will officiate. Burial will be in Podonque Cemetery, Rushford.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 N Genesee Street, Fillmore.
