It is with great heartbreak and sadness that we announce the passing of James Lee Pierce on July 11, 2024.
Jim was born January 10, 1945, in Friendship, New York, to the late Albert and Dorothy Pierce.
He attended Friendship Central School and as a teenager worked the John Livergood Dairy Farm.
He served aboard the USS Saratoga in the United States Navy as part of the flight crew.
He was a longtime resident of Warren, Pennsylvania, where he lived with his wife, Nancy, who has preceded him in death and with his grandson, Matt Sampson.
He was a Journeyman Welder with Struthers Welding of Warren, PA, until his retirement.
Jim was an avid fisherman, hunter, and gardener, but one of his greatest pleasures was to work on the building and racing of cars that his son and grandson race locally.
Jim is survived by son, Scott Sampson of Warren, Pennsylvania; grandson Matt Sampson of Warren, Pennsylvania, granddaughter, Valerie Glotz of Columbus, Ohio; and 4 siblings, Albert (Dobie) Pierce of Olean, New York, Alberta Pierce of Farmington Hills, Michigan, Gloria Homuth of Cuba, New York, and Ronald Pierce of Olean, New York; and several nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by Albert and Dorothy Pierce; his wife, Nancy Pierce; his daughter-in-law, Sherry Sampson; and eight brothers and sisters.
There will be no services held.
