James A. Darling
James A. Darling, 89, of Panama, NY, passed away July 1, 2024 at his home. He was born March 3, 1935 in Jamestown, the son of the late Carl and Marjory Darling.
Jim was a service manager at White GMC for many years. He was also a welder and had his own business. He retired from the Town of Harmony in 2003.
Jim was a member of the New York Forest Owner Assoc. and the Panama Volunteer Fire Dept.
After a fulfilling career, Jim found joy in his retirement spending his days tinkering in his workshop or exploring his woods. He loved flying and owned and piloted his own airplane. He was also a skilled marksman which he enjoyed doing with his sons and grandkids.
James is survived by his wife, Darlene Darling whom he married April 15, 2009; two sons: David (Lucinda) Darling of Youngsville, PA and their children Amber (Jeremy) Darling and Micheal (Leslie) Darling, and Daniel Darling of Jamestown; as well as several additional grand and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are stepchildren, Charles (Rose) Logan, Todd (Laurie) Logan, and Tom (Hollie) Vantassel.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 46 years, Norma Jean Darling whom he married June 20, 1956; and a sister, Donna Darling.
Per his wishes, no service or visitation will be observed. The family respectfully requests that memorial donations in Jim’s memory be made to Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care, 20 W. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, NY 14750.
