On Jan. 28, 1928, Ruth was born to the late Winfield and Eva Snyder Haight in Ludlow, PA. As a lifelong resident of Youngsville, Ruth married Virgil Mason on July 14, 1946 and began their 42 year life and family together, before he passed in 1987. Ruth was always on the move, either working, volunteering, enjoying time with her friends, or spending time with her family which was her pride and joy. She and Virgil traveled to Okinawa, Japan to visit their son Dennis, who was serving in the Vietnam War. They also traveled to Puerto Rico, California, St. Thomas, Hawaii and Florida, where she would later buy a trailer and live for 3 years enjoying the Florida sunshine. She worked at GTE Sylvania, retiring in 1984, and then went to work for Homeaide Care in Warren doing scheduling.

Most recently, Ruth could be found volunteering at the Restore in Youngsville where she enjoyed the fellowship of her many friends. Volunteering was always something Ruth felt was important. She was a charter member of the Allegheny Community Center in Warren, a volunteer at the Warren General Hospital where she received a 5 year pin for her service, and at the Rouse Home and Rouse Suites. She enjoyed 7 years in the Silver Sneakers Class at the YMCA with Irene Garris as a leader. Ruth was also a member of the Youngsville Free Methodist Church and a member of the Eagles Club in Warren. Caring for people was a true gift for Ruth and she will be missed by her many friends that knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Ruth is preceded in death by her sons, David and Dennis Mason, and a grandson, Andrew Mason.

Ruth leaves behind two sons, Gib (June) Mason of Bandera, Texas, and Ric (Vicki) Mason of Youngsville; eight grandchildren, Sean Mason, Donny (Christine) Mason, Dennis Mason, Jon (Bridget) Mason, Melissa Mason, Kristen (Jessie) Mechling, Rebecca Mason and her companion, Jason, and Joel Mason; 13 great grandchildren and 2 great great granddaughters.
