Anne Louise Rassiga, MD, 81, of Warren, PA died peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, with her son Christopher by her side. She was a two year survivor of bile duct cancer.
Anne was born June 19, 1942 in Long Island, NY, the daughter of the late Cmdr. William August and Edna Irene (Chickray) Rassiga. Anne graduated from Long Island High School in 1958 at the age of 15. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry at Bryn Mawr in 1962 and completed her Doctor of Medicine (MD) at Harvard Medical School in 1966. She subsequently completed her internship at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital, her fellowship at Dartmouth Medical School, and her residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Affiliated Hospitals.
She began her professional career in Cleveland, OH, where she settled for over 20 years, raising two sons. She also practiced in Pittsburgh, PA and Meadville, PA before moving to Warren, PA in 2002. Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine with subspecialty certifications in hematology and medical oncology, she was widely respected and admired by her colleagues for her extensive knowledge and tireless devotion to her patients. At the time of her death, Anne was physician and Director Emeritus of the Cancer Center at Warren General Hospital.
Aside from her career, Anne was a voracious reader and a restless adventurer. Growing up on the water, she had a life-long love for swimming, sailing, and seafood. She also loved horseback riding, dressage, and fox hunting, and was a member of both Chagrin Valley and Sewickly Hunt Clubs. In winter, she loved to ski, spending the holidays on annual family trips to Park City, UT and was a 50 year National Ski Patrol Member. She also played tennis and competed in synchronized figure skating. An intrepid traveler, she loved to share stories of her trips, often with National Geographic Expeditions, or her plans for future travels. Anne was also a member of the American Board of Internal Medicine, Conewango Club, Woman’s Club of Warren, Shakespeare Club, and Western Pennsylvania Conservancy.
Anne is survived by her youngest son Christopher T. Pimlott of Chicago, IL; her sister Eve Rassiga and husband Norm Ephraim of Lincoln, MA; and her oldest son’s widow, Susan Kim of Brooklyn, NY. A life-long lover of animals, she is also survived by her horse Fiddle, her two cats, Sugar and Spice, and her two dogs, Sasha and Eloise.
In addition to her parents, Anne was preceded in death by her oldest son Andrew W. Pimlott.
